I've received a number of submissions by anonymous
readers (thanks - I'm delighted that you took the time to respond!)
The
thing is that I don't think anonymous comments and contributions are
conducive to intelligent conversation. If it was an oversight, please
just resubmit with your name; otherwise, I'm sorry but I'm not going to
publish them.
I
want you all to feel comfortable to speak your minds
here. But I don't want anyone using the cover of anonymity to say
things that they haven't thought through carefully or that they simply
wouldn't want to say in public.
Believe
me, I understand that there are
some things you feel strongly about but due to social or cultural
pressure, you'd rather keep quiet about. And posting anonymously gives
you the chance to get it off your chest without being frowned upon or
worse.
But
when we can see an idea in context of all the other stuff
written by it's author, it's far more meaningful than ideas that are
thrown out anonymously.
Simply,
when you post a comment, I'd like to
see how it fits with everything else you say. An alias would be fine,
so long as you use the same one throughout.
As
I said, I do understand
the desire for anonymity, but I don't think this advances the
conversation in a constructive way. Thanks for your
understanding.
If
you agree or if you think I'm off the mark, please leave a comment (not
anonymously) below. Thanks.
